I extracted that part of the recording from the rest, and saved it as a separate file. This time I let trouble dingle loop for a big longer. The arrows didn’t look quite the same, so I did another recording.

I downloaded the free demo and popped my recording into it. Turns out it was a program called “Photosounder”.

It took a bit of searching to figure out what spectrogram software was being used in these images. I opened up Audacity, started recording, and hit Z to start the sound test music.Īfter I finished, I saved it as a FLAC file.

I set my Fun value to 65, opened the game, and got to the sound test. This basically lets me record what my speakers are playing. To get the audio, I enabled stereo mix as a recording device in windows. So to be thorough, I tried to recreate what I’ve seen posted. Specifically the “arrows” that appear in the “Trouble Dingle” song. I’ve been curious about the spectrogram stuff that’s been posted about the sound test music. Let me preface this post by saying that this is a bit of a stretch.

This brings the question, what happens if you do a full clean-slate/fresh play through without saving (or even interacting with the save points once), and what would this even do for the different endings? (Can it even be done for a pacifist ending, or would the flags for finishing the game without killing anyone still be there, allowing you to get a pacifist ending by playing through the game again?)Īlso something I’ve thought of a little but haven’t fully put into theory is: what if WD Gaster IS the save points? He was cast all through out time and space after all, and (so far as I’ve noticed, but I could easily be wrong lol) the save points are one of the only things that do NOT change location no matter what kind of play through you’re doing (4th dimensional?), and they DO allow you to jump from time to time… it’s rough, and I haven’t really seen it elsewhere, but it’s a thought.Īlso: great theories so far! I only got the game yesterday and played it near nonstop until getting the “true ending.” The whole unseen backstory is just so cool and inviting that I haven’t been able to get off of theory sites all day, lol.

So according to both your theory and stated in the game itself, saving is an extremely important property that highly influences different parts of the code when resetting.

I’ll check the Shyren encounter this time as well. Going to try a very quick look in the year 2000 next I suppose. Sans’ back room didn’t seem any different in my pre-credits true pacifist save, either.

Memoryhead and Lemon Bread encounters seem to be the same. Setting system time to 2020 revealed nothing immediately obvious in a (very quick) look at the true lab. Made a Tumblr account and posted an ask to the official Undertale tumblr asking Sans for confirmation. I think it’s about time for a bit of time travel. Which i should be getting back to, actually. I’m sure we can figure it out with some good old fashioned hard work. Figuring out what’s actually relevant.Īh well. That’s the sort of problem I’ve been running into most. The date was circled on an old calendar in the ruins, but unfortunately I don’t actually know what that date was. that falls anywhere within nine years, right?īeen curious about the exact date the first human arrived in the Underground. For now I can only go where the evidence leads. I’m sure that’ll come in handy more once I know what rules actually need to be broken. see, the thing about being stuck here, is i can’t break the rules like you can. I suppose you’ve got quite an advantage on me there, then.
